Mazda3 MPS combines sensational performance & practicality

  •  Mazda3 MPS ‘super-hatch’ priced at just £22,685^ (OTR)
  • Turbocharged 2.3-litre petrol engine generates 260ps power and 380Nm torque output
  • Sensational acceleration to 62mph in just 6.1sec, with ‘limited’ 155mph top speed

Mazda3 MPS delivers a unique combination of exhilarating driving fun and everyday compact car practicality.  Marketed in the UK as a single, generously specified and lavishly equipped model, the Mazda3 MPS is priced at £22,685^ (on-the-road, including a £500 customer-saving for a limited period) with metallic/mica/pearlescent paint finish free of charge.  Its sensational 155mph performance is coupled with numerous innovations from the second-generation Mazda3 on which it is based.

Amongst best-in-class aerodynamics, the Mazda3 MPS offers high-speed stability, while its styling creates down force for better grip and control.  The power steering and suspension guarantee a refined ride with precise responses to driver inputs.  The gear ratios in the six-speed manual transmission and the application of Mazda’s weight-reducing ‘Gram Strategy’ help to reduce CO2 emissions.

“The Mazda3 MPS has a strikingly bold design, a dynamic, aggressive and assertive look, which sets it apart from the rest of the Mazda3 line-up,” comments Peter Allibon, Sales Director, Mazda UK.  “The bonnet air-intake, 18-inch alloy wheels and large rear spoiler create a muscular, athletic appearance.  Delivering sensationally spirited performance, the Mazda3 MPS boasts ‘stand out’ looks that put rivals in the shade, plus exquisite handling and incredible dynamics.  It is the ultimate expression of ‘Zoom-Zoom’ driving excitement in a sophisticated super-hatch.

“Typical of Mazda’s engineering ethos, the Mazda3 MPS is a very complete package – not just in terms of its high-performance powertrain and stiff, light and strong chassis, but also with its very high level of standard equipment.  Alongside sensational performance it provides the accessibility, practicality, reliability and build quality of its Mazda3 sister models,” adds Allibon.

Each Mazda3 MPS is fitted with the immensely powerful and responsive MZR 2.3 DISI Turbo engine which meets Euro five emission requirements.  It generates 260ps of power and 380Nm of torque (at just 3,000rpm) and drives the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with wider spaced gear ratios and filled with low-viscosity lubricant to reduce shift effort.  The dual exhaust pipes, results in a 10dB noise reduction at engine speeds over 5,000rpm for improved levels of comfort.

The Mazda3 MPS has a sporty suspension set up that doesn’t degrade the ride comfort.  Its stiff bodyshell, raised suspension spring rates and larger stabiliser (anti-roll) bars and high-performance dampers provide a flatter ride with less roll.  Wide, style alloy wheels are fitted with wide, low profile (225/40 section) tyres.

Inside, the MPS is lavishly equipped with premium features including: sports-style, half-leather, heated front seats, Bluetooth® technology, Welcome Mode lighting, a surround-sound BOSE® premium audio system with 10 speakers, and an integrated satellite navigation system.
