Developed using a breakthrough approach, SKYACTIV is founded on resolving conflicting objectives and questioning accepted principles to continually improve the underlying automotive technology in new product generations.
When designing SKYACTIV engines, for example, Mazda aimed for the ideal internal combustion system, to then offer it together with the best transmissions, bodies and chassis.
SKYACTIV therefore evolved with innovation at its heart – and the driver always in mind.
Mazda’s engineers focused on refining the combustion process to achieve a 30% increase in fuel economy across the global range by 2015. Therein lies the basis for the new generation of Mazdas, which feature SKYACTIV technology in all models – and not just pricey ‘green’ variants
